The Effects of Obesity To Health

Based on CDC report, from year 2007–2008, there are approximately 72.5 million adults were obese in the United States. It’s important for people which currently classified  as overweight to know the health effects of obesity and try to do something to turn the situation to a healthy weight condition.

How do you know you are obese ?

The easiest calculation to categorize people with its weight known as BMI (Body Mass Index).  Weight (in kilograms) divided by height (in meters) squared.

This is guideline of NIH :

25.0 to 29.9

obese

Health Risk of Obesity

Abnormal fat deposits may increase the chances of these health condition suffered by obese people:

  1. Coronary heart disease
  2. Type 2 diabetes
  3. Some cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)
  4. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  5. Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)
  6. Stroke
  7. Liver and Gallbladder disease
  8. Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
  9. Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint)
  10. Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility)

Fortunately there are methods to gradually reduce weight to normal level, do it by yourself, or through clinic’s help ranging from diet, lifestyle changes, medication, appetite suppressants, supplement, HCG injection /shot, and bariatric surgery for morbid obesity.
